Supporting Cancer Awareness: Dedicated Bike Rides in Honor of Loved Ones
Brian Way

This page is about dedicated bike rides in honor of loved ones, I’ve undertaken to raise cancer awareness and support finding a cure. My dear friend of 48 years, Brian Way, battled Stage 2 Colorectal (Colon) Cancer, undergoing successful surgery on March 28, 2014. While Brian faces a challenging road to recovery, not everyone is as fortunate. UPDATE 04/20/2024: Brian has been cancer free for several years. Cancer has touched many lives, including my own; claiming both my parents, my uncle, my grandmother, and others. Some have triumphed due to early detection, but the journey to a cure continues.

Inspired by events like the ‘Reaching For The Cure’ ride supporting Southern Orange County Pediatrics, I organized the F-CANCER BIKE RIDE. On short notice, this Wednesday 4/2/2014, starting at 7am at the corner of Jamboree Rd. and Chapman Ave. in Orange, we ride 100 miles in solidarity with Brian and all cancer warriors. The ride is self-supported, with no aid stations or SAG stops. Bring your own supplies and be ready for some hills.

Join us in raising awareness and honoring those affected by cancer. Even sharing this event on social media contributes to the cause. For inquiries, call Jeff at (714) 614-4040. And remember, early cancer screening saves lives.

I will continue to Supporting Cancer Awareness: Dedicated Bike Rides in Honor of Loved Ones

At the start of the ride.

At the halfway point.

So bummed this one cut-off early. With the traffic noise, I didn’t hear an incoming call and it stopped the video. I went on to show the hills behind me and the difficulty of some of the climbs, but it was nothing compared to the pain Cancer brings into one’s life. The agony of the diagnosis, the difficulty of surgery, chemo, radiation and the stress that’s brought on the family. One more time, please get screened if you haven’t already done it. Thank you all for your support, it kept me going! F-CANCER BIKE 104.2 miles, 04/02/2014.
